Show 100+ photos without the page slowing down to load them.

Photography portfolios need to render high-resolution images beautifully, but rigid gallery themes forced a trade-off between quality and load time.

Case Study

Before

Photography portfolios need to display high-resolution images beautifully while maintaining fast load times — traditional gallery themes were rigid and didn't support custom layouts.

After

Achieved a visually rich gallery that loads 100+ photos without layout shift. The masonry layout adapts to any aspect ratio, and lazy loading keeps initial page weight under 500KB.

How it's solved

Built a custom photography portfolio with masonry grid layout, lazy-loaded images with blur-up placeholders, EXIF data display, and album categorization. Used Next.js Image optimization with Cloudflare CDN for responsive delivery.

Trade-offs

EXIF display depends on the source file retaining that metadata — some exports strip it before upload.
